Fig. 165 Left-hand side of the multifunction steering wheel: buttons for operating the speed limiter
First read and observe the introductory information and safety warningsFunction | Switch position, switch operation on the turn signal lever or button on the multifunction steering wheel | Action |
---|---|---|
Switching on the speed limiter. | Move switch ① on the turn signal lever to position , or press the button on the multifunction steering wheel. | The system is switched on. The speed limiter's last set speed is stored. No control yet. |
Press button ② on the turn signal lever, or press the button on the multifunction steering wheel. | ||
Changing between the speed limiter and cruise control system (CCS) or Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) (when the speed limiter is switched on). | Press button ② on the turn signal lever, or press the button on the multifunction steering wheel. | This switches between the speed limiter and CCS or ACC. |
Activating the speed limiter. | Press button ③ on the turn signal lever at the area marked , or press the button on the multifunction steering wheel. | The speed at which the vehicle is currently travelling is stored in the memory as the maximum speed and the speed limiter is activated. |
Switching off the speed limiter regulation temporarily. | Move switch ① on the turn signal lever to position , or press the or button on the multifunction steering wheel. | Control is switched off temporarily. The speed is stored in the memory. |
Switching off speed limiter regulation temporarily using the kickdown function. | Fully depress the accelerator beyond resistance (e.g. for overtaking). The speed limiter is switched off temporarily when the stored speed is exceeded. | Control is switched off temporarily. The speed is stored in the memory. Speed limiter regulation switches on again automatically as soon as the vehicle falls below the originally stored speed. |
Resuming speed limiter control. | Press button ③ on the turn signal lever at the area marked , or press the button on the multifunction steering wheel. | The speed is limited to the stored speed as soon as the speed at which the vehicle is currently travelling falls below the stored maximum speed. |
Increasing the stored speed. | Press button ③ in the area marked , or briefly press the button on the multifunction steering wheel to increase the speed in small increments of 1 km/h (1 mph) and to store the speed. | The speed is limited to the stored value. |
Press the button on the multifunction steering wheel briefly to increase the speed in increments of 10 km/h (5 mph) and to store the speed. | ||
Press button ③ on the turn signal lever in the area marked , or press and hold the button on the multifunction steering wheel to scroll through the speed in increments of 10 km/h (5 mph) and to store the speed. | ||
Reducing the stored speed. | Press button ③ on the turn signal lever in the area marked , or briefly press the button on the multifunction steering wheel to reduce the speed in small increments of 1 km/h (1 mph) and to store the speed. | The speed is limited to the stored value. |
Press the button on the multifunction steering wheel briefly to reduce the stored speed in increments of 10 km/h (5 mph) and to store the speed. | ||
Press button ③ on the turn signal lever in the area marked , or press and hold the button on the multifunction steering wheel to scroll through the speed in increments of 10 km/h (5 mph) and to store the speed. | ||
Switching off the speed limiter. | Move switch ① to the
position. OR: when regulation is active, briefly press the button on the multifunction steering wheel twice. OR: in any operating mode, press and hold the button on the multifunction steering wheel. |
The system is switched off. The stored speed remains stored in the memory. |
The mph figures given in brackets in the table relate exclusively to instrument clusters with mile readings.
Driving downhill with the speed limiter
When the speed limiter's stored set speed is exceeded when travelling downhill, the warning and indicator lamp will begin to flash after a short time, and an acoustic warning may also be sounded. Apply the foot brake to slow the vehicle down, and change down a gear as required.
Deactivating temporarily
If the speed limiter regulator is temporarily deactivated, e.g. when overtaking, move switch on the turn signal lever to position or press button or in the multifunction steering wheel .
After overtaking, the speed limiter can be activated with the previous set speed by pressing the button on the turn signal lever in the area or by pressing the button on the multifunction steering wheel .
Temporary deactivation when the kickdown function is activated
Speed limiter regulation is deactivated temporarily when the accelerator is fully depressed (kickdown) and the stored speed is deliberately exceeded by the driver.
A one-off acoustic signal confirms the deactivation. The warning and indicator lamp flashes during deactivation.
Speed limiter regulation is reactivated when the accelerator is no longer fully depressed and the vehicle speed has fallen below the stored speed. The indicator lamp lights up continuously.
Automatic switch-off
Speed limiter regulation is automatically switched off:
NOTICE
In the event of automatic switch-off due to a system fault, the speed limiter is only completely deactivated when the accelerator is released once or the driver deliberately deactivates the system. This is for safety reasons.Round connector systems
