Volkswagen Golf Service & Repair Manual: Removing and installing bonnet lock, RHD vehicle

Special tools and workshop equipment required

Removing and installing bonnet lock, RHD vehicle

–  Open bonnet.
–  Remove Bowden cable on mounting bracket → Chapter
–  Disconnect connector for bonnet contact switch.
  Note
The connector is secured next to the right headlight.
–  Remove bolts -3- from lock carrier and remove bonnet lock -1- upwards -arrow a-.
–  Unclip retainer -5- from bonnet lock.
–  Slightly remove retainer -5- from bonnet lock -1--arrow b- and unhook cable -4--arrow c-.
–  Remove microswitch -6- from bonnet lock.
 
Installing

–  Hook in cable -5--arrow a- and clip retainer -4- into bonnet lock -1--arrow b-.
–  Install microswitch -6- in bonnet lock -arrow c-.
–  Insert bonnet lock -1- into lock carrier -arrow d-.
–  Screw in bolts -3-.
–  Connect connector for bonnet contact switch -6-.
–  Install Bowden cable on mounting bracket → Chapter.
–  Adjust bonnet lock → Chapter.
–  Before closing bonnet, check function of release lever and cable.
Specified torques
  Bonnet lock → Chapter „Assembly overview - Bowden cable“
