WARNING
Observe safety instructions for pyrotechnic
components

Risk of injury due to automatic engine starting in
vehicles with a Start/Stop system. |
|
In vehicles with an activated Start/Stop system
(indicated by a message in the dash panel insert), the
engine may start automatically. |
|
When working on the vehicle, make sure that the
Start/Stop system is deactivated (switch off the
ignition; switch the ignition on again if necessary). |

For “e-Golfs” or “Golf GTEs”, disconnect the maintenance
connector for high-voltage system -TW-. |

Disconnect battery earth cable with ignition switched on
→ Electrical system; Rep. gr.27. |
|
|
|

Unscrew bolts -1 and 3-. |
– |
Release catch -arrow- and
remove cover -2-. |
|
|
|
– |
Lay coolant hose -2- to one
side. |
– |
Release catches -arrows- and
remove upper part of air duct -1-. |
|
|
|
– |
Unscrew bolt -arrow- on left
and right. |
– |
Unclip lower part of air duct -1-
and remove it. |
|
|
|
– |
Unscrew bolts -2- and remove
crash sensor -3- for front airbag
from lock carrier. |
WARNING
Before handling pyrotechnic components (e.g.
separating the electrical connector), the person
handling them must ensure that he/she is “electrically
discharged”. To do this e.g. briefly touch the door
striker plate. |

Disconnect connector -1-. |

Pull out connector lock -2-,
press it down -arrow- and
disconnect connector -1- on crash
sensor. |
